Ms Caroline Lecky - Senior Professional Officer
Caroline Lecky is the Senior Professional Officer for Community and Primary Care Workforce at the Northern Ireland Practice and Education Council for Nursing and Midwifery (NIPEC).
Caroline is a Registered Nurse working within a senior nursing role in Northern Ireland. She is passionate about nursing and the contribution the profession can make to the health and wellbeing of the population.
Caroline began her nursing career in the Belfast City Hospital in 1990 and qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1993. Upon qualifying Caroline relocated to London where she spent time working as a staff nurse and ward sister in a variety of clinical areas. These included the emergency department, respiratory medicine and acute medical admissions. Caroline continued her studies and obtained a BSc (Hons) in Health Studies and a Post Grad cert in Health Studies. Caroline also spent time working as a Bed/Site manager prior to moving into a service management role. As a service manager Caroline was responsible for the management of two large emergency departments in outer London.
Caroline relocated to Northern Ireland in 2003 where she took up a post as a senior manager within the Royal Group of Hospitals. Following RPA Caroline has had a variety of posts across the Belfast Trust all within the field of acute and unscheduled care. Working closely with large clinical teams Caroline has been instrumental in many achievements during her time there to ensure services are reformed to meet the changing needs and demands of patients and service users.
Of note is the creation of the programmed treatment unit, the introduction of a clinical assessment unit to the Mater hospital site and the design and implementation of the innovative Mater and Community Nurse Rotation programme.
Caroline is currently completing a Post Grad Certificate in healthcare leadership as part of the Aspiring Executive Nurse Course. She has also continuing her Level 2 Attributes Framework training which she commenced prior to joining NIPEC.
Caroline’s portfolio at NIPEC will include community and primary care workforce alongside a variety of other projects.
