Ms Fiona Bradley - Senior Professional Officer
Fiona Bradley is the Senior Professional Officer (Education) at the Northern Ireland Practice and Education Council for Nursing and Midwifery (NIPEC).
Fiona is a Registered Midwife working within a senior regional midwifery role in Northern Ireland.
Fiona began her professional career in nursing in 1980 and qualified as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) in 1983. Fiona worked as a Staff Nurse in a neurosurgical unit before beginning her midwifery career in Edinburgh in 1985.
Fiona returned to Northern Ireland in 1987 and has worked in a wide variety of hospital and community maternity care settings for sixteen years. During this time she completed a BSc in Health Studies at Queens University Belfast and an MSc in Health Promotion at Ulster University.
In 2003 she commenced a new role as a Midwife Education Consultant in the HSC Clinical Education Centre (CEC) and completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education with commendation at Ulster University in 2004. In her role as Midwife Education Consultant she led and delivered on a wide range of midwifery education programmes, as well as other regional educational initiatives to support the implementation of strategic policy drivers. In 2012, she was seconded to Northern Ireland Practice Education Council (NIPEC) for 14 months to work as a Professional Officer taking forward a number of strategic nursing and midwifery projects.
In 2012, Fiona was appointed as a Senior Education Manager in the CEC. In this role she was the midwifery lead in the CEC working with senior midwives and nurses across the HSC to provide specialist support on the design and delivery of in-service midwifery and nursing education programmes. She was also a Service Level Coordinator responsible for managing Service Level Agreements between the CEC and its core clients.
Fiona re-joined NIPEC in April 2019. Her remit will include Midwifery, Children’s Nursing, Safeguarding and Public Health.
