Mrs Angela McLernon, OBE
Angela joined the DHSSPS in 2006 as Nursing Officer and during this time has carried lead responsibility for nursing issues relating to Community and Primary Care, Public Health, Child Health, Safeguarding and Nurse Prescribing. From June 2011 to April 2013, Angela was the Interim Chief Nursing Officer within DHSSPS during which time she was instrumental in securing Ministerial support and commitment to the development and introduction of a new policy to support safe nurse staffing levels across all settings.
During her time at the DHSSPS she has led in the development of policy and reviews relating to Child Health, Health Visiting and School Nursing and central to the introduction of the Family Nurse Partnership Programme to Northern Ireland. She is currently working closely with the NMC in relation to the introduction of revalidation for nurses and midwives across the UK.
Prior to this Angela held a range of clinical and managerial posts at senior level where she had responsibility for School Nursing, District Nursing, Occupational Health, Health Visiting, Community Children’s Nursing and Family Planning Nursing.
In September 2018 Angela was appointed to the Florence Nightingale Foundation as Trustee/Director.
