|In 2011 NIPEC in collaboration with a range of key stakeholders agreed high level principles in relation to a learning agreement template to be used Nurses and Midwives in the HSC Trust. The purpose of a learning agreement is to ensure that both the learner and the line manager:|
- agree the learning activity which best meets the needs of the nurse or midwife and the service
- clearly articulate the committment required by the nurse or midwife and the manager
- evaluate the programme against the agreed learning outcomes
- evaluate benefits to the care delivered to patients
Following a pilot of the template during 2012-2013, NIPEC collated feedback from the five HSC Trusts; amendments were made to the learning agreement template to be used by nurses and midwives in the HSC trust. It is now updated and available for use on the NIPEC website. To note in July 2016 the Learning Agreement Template has been refreshed to reflect the NMC Code (2015) and Revalidation.
