Midwives and Medicines (NI) 2014, is an interactive toolkit which was developed in partnership with the Local Supervising Authority Midwifery Officer (LSAMO) Midwives and Pharmacists, to explore and develop evidence based guidance, communication and education support arrangements that would be of benefit and provide clarity to midwives in Northern Ireland on Medicine Legislation especially on ‘Midwives Exemptions’.

The toolkit was submitted and shortlisted for the 2016 British Journal of Midwifery Practice Awards, with the Ceremony being held on 8th February 2016 in Manchester. These awards recognise outstanding achievements in midwifery practice, as well as celebrating hard-working individuals and teams in the midwifery profession. Midwives and Medicines was the overall winner in the Contribution to Midwifery Education Category.

Huge congratulations go to all of the members of Steering Group for the Midwives and Medicines Project.

At the same awards ceremony, Eliz Bannon (Retired Co-Director, Belfast HSC Trust) was runner up in the Midwifery Leadership category – Congratulations Eliz.
