| Following the Review of Midwifery Supervision in NI (2015), NIPEC has been asked to work in partnership with midwives and other stakeholders to develop a New Model of Midwifery Supervision in readiness of legislative changes to the Nursing and Midwifery Order 2001 in the removal of the statutory element of Midwifery Supervision. |
A Task and Finish Group was established in February 2016 to achieve the objectives of the project plan.
Following an Engagement Workshop held on 20 May 2016 the current model has been reviewed and all key messages under the following themes are in development for the New Model:
- Midwifery Supervision review process
- Preparation for Supervisors of Midwifery
- Governance
- Midwifery Leadership
- Personal and Public Involvement
A four country workshop is being held in London on 29 July 2016 which will inform the next stages of this project.
