Sources of support and advice for nurses and midwives affected by civil unrest

You may be aware of recent incidents of civil unrest where our ethnically diverse colleagues have been targeted.

Employers of Nurses and Midwives are proud of their diverse workforce, are committed to equality, compassion and respect for all and strongly condemn any form of hatred or discrimination.  No one should feel unsafe or unwelcome in their workplace or community and our employers are committed to fostering an environment where everyone feels respected and protected. If you experience racial abuse please report each incident to the PSNI and tell your line manager.

Organisations that employ nurses and midwives, including HSC Trusts, have local support mechanisms in place if nurses or midwives experience any behaviour at work that does not align with the HSC values. HSC Trusts have also collated local resources to support staff who may have been victims of racial abuse. Check your Trust website below or your own Trust staff intranet site.
