The Nursing and Midwifery Task Group report (DoH 2020) highlights that significant transformation of nursing and midwifery services is essential to the stability and sustainability of the Northern Ireland HSC system. The vision for District Nursing (District Nursing Framework DoH 2018) is that it will be an innovative, collaborative and transformed service delivering high quality, safe effective, person and family centred care. The District Nursing Career Pathway is a key outcome in realising this vision. The Chief Nursing Officer commissioned NIPEC to develop the career pathway, in partnership with Public Health Agency and other key stakeholders in HSC Trusts, Education Providers, RCN and staff side organisations.
