Project Overview
Each year, on behalf of the Department of Health (DoH), the Education Commissioning Group (ECG), select and commission education programmes for the nursing and midwifery workforce. The aim of these education programmes is to enhance the delivery of person centred, safe and effective care, support the transformation of services and ensure the nursing and midwifery workforce are equipped with the knowledge, skills and competencies to meet the needs of patients and clients.
It is important that Health and Social Care (HSC) Trusts can demonstrate how these educational investments have been applied and its impact on developing, maintaining and transforming healthcare services.
The Learning Agreement and Evaluation of Learning on Practice Framework has been developed to assist nurses and midwives and their line managers within the HSC Trusts, to assess the suitability of the education programme for the prospective participant and the service area, as well as retrospective impact evaluation of undertaking the programme. It should be used in all education programmes commissioned by the ECG and can also be applied to other learning and development opportunities.
The Framework has two parts:
- A Learning Agreement (Appendix 1) to be completed prior to undertaking a commissioned education programme.
- An Impact on Practice Outcomes Evaluation (Appendix 2) to be completed within 6 months of completing the education programme or within a timeframe agreed with the line manager.
