REGIONAL CHILD AND FAMILY CENTRED NURSING ASSESSMENT AND PLAN OF CARE RECORD FOR IN-PATIENT CARE SETTINGS
Since 2009 under the commission of the Chief Nursing Officer for Northern Ireland, NIPEC has been taking forward a project, Chaired by Ms Nicki Patterson, Executive Director of Nursing, South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, the aim of which is to improve the standard of nurse record keeping practice in the region. |
Phase 1 of Recording Care tested and amended a regional person centred nursing assessment and plan of care document for adult in-patient care settings in Northern Ireland.
Having reviewed the achievements of the first phase of the Recording Care Project, the Steering Group recommended that Phase 2 of the Project incorporate a work stream which would take forward mapping of the regional person centred nursing assessment and plan of care document with the record keeping system currently available in children’s care settings and reach regional agreement of a common system within this area.
Commissioned by the Department of Health, the Steering Group agreed to take forward this work at a meeting 12th May 2014.
Aim
The aim of this part of Phase 2 is:-
To develop and implement an agreed Regional Health and Social Care (HSC) Child and Family Centred Nursing Assessment and Plan of Care document or data set.
The ERG worked with NIPEC to agree a data set for use in children’s wards across Northern Ireland. This work has included a pilot of an initial document and review. A final first draft was produced in December 2015 which has been subsequently reviewed and can be accessed here.
