13th February 2025

Our RNLD CoP virtual event on 5 Feb got great engagement and feedback. Thank you to all who took part, including Maureen Roberts and Caroline Rice, Southern Health and Social Care Trust, for sharing experience of collaborative working across teams and thanks also, to Prof Owen Barr for recapping on the Model in the Equity of Access and Outcome Report and the Recommendations.
The NIPEC RNLD COP event focussed on Equity of Access and Outcome and followed on from the launch of the Equity of Access and Outcome Report by the Minister of Health in November 2024.
Frances Cannon, Associate Senior Professional Officer, NIPEC was very encouraged by the participation at the event and the feedback from participants and commented:
“It was inspiring to hear about the innovative collaborative working between RNLDs and District Nursing in the Southern Health and Social Care Trust and the impact and outcomes of this initiative for people with a learning disability. Due to unforeseen circumstances the session on Learning Disability Awareness Training for general healthcare staff had to be deferred. Instead this event was also used to provide a recap of the RNLD model and highlight the recommendations from the Equity of Access and Outcome report. Participants were directed to links to the Report on the NIPEC website and advised as to how to get involved within their respective organisations.”
The virtual event and was for all RNLDs and other nurses who have an interest in supporting people with learning disabilities, across all settings to include HSC Trusts, the Education Sector and the Independent/Voluntary Sector.
