It was a busy week for the NIPEC team during World Quality Week.  NIPEC staff had the opportunity to participate in the Institute for Healthcare’s (IHI) Health Improvement Alliance Europe (HIAE) multiday meeting in Northern Ireland from 12-14 November. This meeting offered opportunity to connect with other HIAE members and to learn from some of the amazing work taking place across the region during the site visits and to review the priorities set out by the Network. It was an interesting few days full of learning and connections.

During the visit NIPEC staff took part in a session at South Eastern Trust which focused on using digital technologies and AI in health. At a session at Ulster Rugby players and staff shared how they are learning from data and using feedback to build capacity to improve. The interesting session looked at common themes for improvement and learning across health and sport.  NIPEC staff also visited Lakewood Regional Secure Centre and heard from staff about work there over the last four years to introduce a total quality management system with the wellbeing of the young people front and centre of all.

NIPEC staff joined together in their James House offices during World Quality Week to celebrate the launch of the NIPEC Quality Strategy. Lead, Inspire and Improve are the key themes of the new strategy. NIPEC’s Chief Executive Linda Kelly is excited to see the Strategy come to fruition after engagement with NIPEC staff and partner organisations on its development and commented:

“The Quality Strategy sets out our ambitions for quality in a way that is designed to be meaningful to our partners and staff, ensuring we work together to deliver excellence in all that we do and enhance our organisational learning. This strategy will support the delivery of our Corporate Plan over the next four years. “

Speaking as the NIPEC staff joined together to celebrate the launch of the strategy, Brenda Carson, Senior Professional Officer who has led on the development of the strategy commented:

“We are strengthening our culture of enquiry and collaborating with our partners to continuously improve our work. The NIPEC team is enjoying working to deliver excellence for the professions and continuing to learn.”
