Scoping of Recovery Orientated Practice Training

Recovery orientated practice is an underpinning principle within the Bamford Vision for the reform and modernisation of Mental Health and Learning Disabilities services in Northern Ireland and the Bamford Action Plan for Mental Health (DHSSPS, 2012) includes a commitment  to the development of a culture of recovery-based practice. Through the Chair of the Delivering Excellence Supporting Recovery Implementation Group NIPEC was asked to:
  • Conduct a review how recovery features in training programmes for all health professionals at both undergraduate and post graduate levels, within HSC Trusts
  • Through a literature review identify what supports the embedding of a Recovery Oriented Practice.

The final report was presented to the Mental Health Commissioning Team in June 2013, which included the findings of the review, and a suggested action plan as to how Recovery training could be taken forward. NIPEC was asked by the PHA to present the findings of the report with each of the HSC Trusts.
